ROLE SUMMARY

This is a broad and varied role covering all areas of management accounting and financial analysis. You’ll be responsible for producing monthly accounts and supporting forecasting, statutory reporting, and decision-making across the business. You’ll work closely with the Head of Finance and Finance Assistant, driving improvements in process, controls, and reporting insight.

THIS ROLE WOULD SUIT

A part or fully qualified Management Accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) with strong attention to detail, who thrives in a hands-on finance role within a small business environment. You’ll be a confident communicator who’s comfortable owning end-to-end processes, interpreting financial data, and being a key support to the Head of Finance. You're excited to work across a wide remit, juggling reporting, forecasting, analysis, and process improvement.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

  • You’ll be the second hire into the finance team, supporting the Head of Finance to strengthen reporting, forecasting and business insight. Your core duties will include:
  • Preparing accurate and timely management accounts
  • Completing revenue reconciliations and supporting revenue recognition processes
  • Producing intercompany postings and performing balance sheet reconciliations
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns
  • Generating cashflow forecasts and maintaining the cash position
  • Supporting statutory accounts preparation and queries
  • Conducting monthly cost analysis and producing variance reports against budget/forecast
  • Running the monthly commission calculation process
  • Business partnering with key departments to support decision-making
  • Maintaining the fixed asset register and associated journals
  • Assisting with budgeting, reforecasting and modelling
  • Supporting treasury functions including payment planning and FX monitoring
  • Continuously improving systems and streamlining financial processes
  • Assisting with ad hoc financial projects and process improvement initiatives

EXPERIENCE

• Part or fully-qualified (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) – Required

• Minimum 2 years' relevant experience in management accounting – Required

• Month-end ownership in a small or medium-sized business – Required

• Experience preparing management accounts, forecasts and VAT returns – Required

• Experience preparing balance sheet reconciliations - Required

• SME, fast-paced or entrepreneurial business exposure – Desired

• Statutory accounts experience – Desired

You can balance a wide variety of tasks, manage your own workload, and remain calm under pressure around month-end deadlines.
